Each March 25th we gather to stand for social + economic justice for all!
On March 25, 1911 a fire broke out at the Triangle Waist Company, a garment factory located just one block east of Washington Square Park. The workers tried to flee but a critical exit was locked. The public watched in horror as 146 young workers, most of them immigrant women + girls, burned or jumped to their death. There was a trial but the owners, long known for their vehement anti-union stance were acquitted.
